Brodeia roots (aka “Blue Dicks”): {Dichelostemma capitatum}
Positive-Impact Harvesting Technique: “Abundance vs. Isolation” check. Leave the majority in the ground & do not pick if there is not an abundance– although they tend to grow rather abundantly.
Description: tends to grow in a single bulb but occasionally will have 2 bulb on a single plant. The plant is small & slender, with blue, bell-shaped flowers on top.
Uses: The root bulbs of the brodello are a very tasty starchy food source, & can be eaten raw, but are also qute tasty once they’ve been cooked.
